The Art Of Lent - Wednesdays, Now - Mar 28th, 12:00-1:00pm, Union Presbyterian Seminary Chapel
To help you and yours focus hearts and minds on Christ’s work, Sharon Presbyterian church will host six Wednesday, noon-time lunch-learning experiences, focusing on the ART OF LENT, Christ’s passion, death and resurrection. Learn about some of the greatest artistic responses (and what makes them “great”) to Christ’s work from Rob Blumer, David Tang, and special guests like art historians Phillip Larrimore and Luther Wade, while lunching simply on bread and soup from Panera Bread ($5/person for soup and bread). Please click here to make reservations.

Seder MealMarch 28th, 6:30pm, Gym
This year, Sharon Pres returns to our biannual tradition of celebrating the Traditional Seder Meal during Holy Week. The Passover Seder harkens back to the beginning of our faith with God’s instructions to Moses and Aaron in Exodus chapter 12. In our modern Seder, families join together for a meal and worship that has been celebrated by our religious ancestors for thousands of years blended with a modern day Christian celebration of the Sacrament. This is a great activity for families and children to celebrate Holy Week and the coming Easter. Please click here to sign up so that we can plan accordingly. Adults reservations are $5, Children under 18 will participate for free. Contact Martin at 704-553-0869 to register in the office.

Maundy Thursday Service - March 29th, 7:30pm, Sanctuary
Be sure to attend our Maundy Thursday service - a powerful, multi-media presentation that vividly tells the story of Christ’s passion, death and burial through scripture readings, special music and projections of some of the greatest visual art ever created. Featuring special guest - the Rick Bean Trio, playing excerpts from Oscar Peterson’s Easter Suite, the service also incorporates elements of services known as Tenebrae – Latin for “shadows” or “darkness”. During the service, candles are extinguished little by little until the room or sanctuary is totally dark, at which point, the cross is covered. However, before the congregation departs, one candle is lit to remind us that the darkness does not overcome; the light will shine again. Easter is coming! Due to the graphic nature of some of the crucifixion images, this service may not be suitable to young children.
