How can planned gifts be made to the church?
Planned gifts are legacy investments that safeguard the future growth and stability of Sharon Presbyterian Church. A planned gift is one of two types – either unrestricted or designated:
Unrestricted Gift
An unrestricted gift is a gift to the church that is not restricted as to purpose, to be allocated and used for such ministries, missions and needs of the church as determined by the Session when the gift is received. Sharon Presbyterian Church has many varying needs from year-to-year and generation-to-generation, so unrestricted gifts provide the greatest flexibility to respond to changing needs.
An unrestricted gift can be made:
- directly to the church, or
- as an endowed gift to the General Endowment SubFund of the Sharon Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.
Designated Gift
A designated gift is a gift to the church with the stipulation that it be used for a specified purpose in support of a particular ministry, mission or need of the church. Designated gifts allow you to choose how your funds will used by the church for a purpose or purposes. For example, a cash gift for the express purpose of supporting the church’s music program or the Boy Scout troop or the church’s ministry to the homeless would each be a designated gift.
A designated gift can be made:
- directly to the church, or
- as an endowed gift to a specific or newly created Subfund of the Sharon Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, or
- to a specified or newly created non-endowed church Reserve Fund.
