Music

Music plays a vital role in life at Sharon Presbyterian Church.  Our five ensembles engage dozens of volunteers to provide music each week.  The Music Ministry also presents musical events in our magnificent worship spaces for the entire Charlotte community.

Adult choirs

Contact Lance Burnette for more information.

Chancel Choir

Wednesdays, 7:00-8;15pm, Sanctuary Building Choir Room

The 20+ member Chancel Choir sings regularly at Sharon's 10:30am traditional service. No experience or audition is required - just an enthusiasm to serve through music. Regular attendance is encouraged but also not required - given busy schedules, singers are urged to come whenever they can.

Vocal Ensemble

Wednesdays, 8:15-9:30pm, Sanctuary Building Choir Room

The select 8-12 member Vocal Ensemble also sings regularly at Sharon’s 10:30am traditional service. Participation in the ensemble is at the discretion of the Director of Music. Vocal Ensemble members participate in the Chancel Choir, sight-read well, and generally have formal vocal training and/or experience in choral ensembles. Familiarity with foreign languages is helpful.

Contemporary Praise Team

This vocal and instrumental music team leads music at Sharon’s 8:30am “Morning Song” contemporary service. The team consists of a small group of singers and a band of piano, bass, guitars, and percussion. The music consists of familiar, contemporary Christian songs. The team of musicians is approved by try-out and interview. All who have a talent and a desire to join are welcome to contact Ron Aldridge at ron@ramedia.tv.

Tech Team

The Tech Team is in charge of audio, lighting, and video for all services and events. No experience necessary, training offered and it’s a quick learning curve. To learn more about this young and energetic team, contact Lance Burnette.

And More...

Other instruments that support the music program are the organ and piano played by our expert organist Lance Burnette. In addition, members of the congregation, as well as special guests nationwide, join us for special occasions.

The chiming of the daylight hours resounds from Sharon’s steeple through a digital carillon, recently renovated.
