Crisis Assistance
Provides emergency financial assistance, clothing, furniture, and household items to low income families. Volunteers are needed to work at the center.
CROP Walk
The largest organized walk in North Carolina to show support of fighting hunger. Volunteers form a team to walk annually.
Furniture Drive for Crisis Assistance
Volunteers from the church pick up furniture twice a year to be delivered to the center. Help is needed as drivers and in people who will pick up the furniture.
Emergency Winter Shelter
SPC assists at the Statesville Road Shelter once a month when the shelter is open. Help is needed to register guests, give guests a receipt for their stored belongings, serve the dinner, and distribute blankets.
Loaves and Fishes
Provides emergency food supplies to families and individuals in crisis. Food is collected on the second Sunday of every month.
Meals at the Homeless Shelters
Members and friends prepare and serve the evening meal at the Uptown Men’s Shelter and the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter the last Saturday of every month.
Operation Christmas Child
An opportunity to fill decorated shoe boxes with small gifts for children around the world, coordinated through Samaritan’s Purse.
Room In the Inn
SPC hosts homeless Friday nights December through March as part of the Urban Ministry Center Room in the Inn. Help is needed with transportation, building set-up, dinner preparation and serving, hosts/hostesses to spend the night, breakfast preparation and clean-up.
